Circulo Verde Chasedown

On March 19th, 2017, Metro Race Collective proudly organizes the 1st ever Circulo Verde Chasedown - a fixed gear criterium event which will be held at Ortigas & Co’s Circulo Verde alongside guest sports director Ravi Rajcoomar (USAC Sanctioned Race Director) & world-renowned cyclist Addison Zawada.

The event will grant the winner of the Men’s Fixed Gear Open category an opportunity to compete in the USA Cycling sanctioned event - Red Bull Last Stand - taking place at The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Circulo Verde Chase Down will be using the “knockout” format for this criterium. In this setup, the rider who crosses the finish line last on each lap gets eliminated until there is just one rider left in the race course. The event will consist of four races:

* Fixed Men (Open) ***Winner qualifies for Red Bull Last Stand***
* Must be 18+ | Provide PHL passport at registration
* Fixed Women (Open)
* Geared Men (Open)
* Geared Women (Open)

“This is really a first for the country, and one of the few of its kind in Asia,” said Melvin Sun & Aaron Pugal from Metro Race. “Our event has the opportunity to reach global standards and we feel should put the Philippines on the map. We see it as a coming of age and a way to recognize the local talent we have and spur them forward.”

You can register starting February 16, 2017 until March 12, 2017. For only Php 950, registration is inclusive of race numbers, exclusive event shirt from Brklss, exclusive saddle bags from Conquer Outdoor Equipment, and more exciting stuff from our sponsors!

What is a Fixed-Gear Bicycle?

The fixed gear bicycle he oldest and simplest type of bicycle is the "fixed-gear" bicycle. This is a single-speed bike without a freewheel: that is, whenever the bike is in motion, the pedals will go around. You cannot coast on a fixed-gear machine.

Many track bicycle any enthusiastic cyclists ride such bicycles by choice, at least part of the time. Why would anybody do that? It is not easy to put into words. There is an almost mystical connection between a fixed-gear cyclist and bicycle: it feels like an extension of your body to a greater extent than does a freewheel-equipped machine. If you are an enthusiastic, vigorous cyclist, you really should give it a try.

There are many reasons, including: Fun, Fitness, Form, Feel & 'Ficciency!
